We went to the oncologist today for the first time. We've had a bump in the road. They have decided that Paul is too weak and fatigued to do both chemo and radiation at the same time. We will start radiation tomorrow, and after 5 weeks of radiation, they will reassess his health to see if he's ready to start chemo.
The reason he is so weak and unable to eat is because the tumor is pressing against his superior vena cava which takes all the blood back to his heart. They will be going in next Wednesday to put a stint in this artery to fix this problem. His nutrition is still an ongoing struggle, but they gave his medicine to increase his appetite. We will continue to keep you updated on his progress.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers and care for Paul and our family. God has been expediently gracious to Paul and our family. Thank you all for your prayers and support.
Paul's Story
God spent decades on my dad. When asked why he needed Jesus, he simply responded that he was going the wrong way. God was patient with him. He was going after his soul and he was saved not by anything he said or did, but by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. He died without any fear and is now standing in the presence of the one true God. We will all have to stand before God & give an account for our lives. Thanks to the victory of Jesus through the cross, my dad's sins were forgiven & I will see him again in paradise. Amen!
In January 2011 Paul was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. Unfortunately on 3/9/2011 an MRI scan showed that the tumor has spread to his brain and is at stage 4 which is incurable. Paul passed away on April 21, 2011. This blog was meant to keep people updated and informed. The family appreciates all the prayers and support.
